Santa Cruz man missing, deputies looking for information

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said it’s trying to locate Oswaldo Mendez-Chavez, 20, after he was reported missing by a family member on Feb. 18. Family members said they hadn’t heard from Mendez-Chavez since Jan. 17.

Deputies said he has been living in Santa Cruz alone for the past two years after moving from Los Angeles.

Family members said he doesn’t have any medical issues putting him at risk. Mendez-Chavez is a 20-year-old, Hispanic male, 5’8″, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He doesn’t have any tattoos or scars.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
