Man arrested for stealing from Girl Scouts
San Jose Police say girl scouts were selling cookies outside of a Safeway store on a Sunday afternoon when the unthinkable happened.
Police say at about 2:45p.m. officers got a call that a man forcibly ripped a cash box out of a 10-year-old girl’s hands as she sold cookies with her troop.
?A witness was able to help dispatchers with the suspect’s license plate and a description of 23-year-old Cody Gintz.
Officers who were making their way to the scene saw Gintz driving nearby. The officers initiated a high risk car stop and arrested the suspect. Gintz was booked for robbery.
All the money and the cash box were recovered and returned to the girl scout troop.
Several San Jose Police officers and dispatchers coordinated with each other to purchase the remaining cookies for a total of $240 dollars and they donated an additional $60 dollars to the Girl Scout organization.
