Crossfit popularity grows across Central Coast
A Crossfit competition for all shapes, sizes and ages is right here on the Central Coast. On Saturday, two Crossfit gyms teamed up to give amateurs a chance to compete. Crossfit Monterey and Crossfit Salinas hosted a competition in Monterey.
The idea was to show people that no matter what skill level you are, you can do Crossfit. Recently the sport has skyrocketed to popularity with the Crossfit games now being televised on ESPN. The goal there is to determine who is the fittest man and woman in the world. But Saturday was about giving the beginners a chance to lift weights and compete
“People are liking it because it works and it’s fun and when you go to a good qualified facility like Crossfit Monterey or Crossfit Salinas, it’s safe and it really works,” Crossfit Salinas owner Jeremy Graves said.
Crossfit is not just for competition. You can take classes and learn how to lift weights and stay in shape. The workout changes every day so you never do the same thing two days in a row.
