Man suffers gunshot wound in Salinas

A 33-year-old man was shot near Gardenia Circle and Lupin Drive in Salinas Saturday night, police said.

The Salinas Police Department said the victim was approached by two men who asked for his gang affiliation. Police said a fight ensued shortly after.

One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and fired, striking the victim in his lower extremities, police said. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The primary suspect is described as 6 feet tall, about 280 pounds and was seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, police said. The other suspect is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a large build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Police said the suspects may have fled in a pickup truck.
