Pebble Beach preps to draw crowds from Super Bowl 50
Round one of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is over and it’s on to round two. But it’s still just the beginning. The Pro-Am isn’t the only big event generating buzz at Pebble Beach. So is Super Bowl 50.
With Santa Clara as the host city for Super Bowl 50, the Super Bowl host committee is working to make the Central Coast a hot spot for fans. This means encouraging Superbowl fans to spend some time here.
Pebble Beach Company Executive Vice President of Marketing Mark Ferland said they signed on to be a destination sponsor for Super Bowl 50, hoping people will not only spend time in San Francisco and wine country but come down to the Monterey Peninsula and spend time at Pebble Beach.
“It’s truly about overall experience of Monterey Peninsula. And some guests will stay here and golf and go to Super Bowl because one has to remember because Levi’s Stadium is halfway between downtown San Francisco International Airport and Pebble Beach. So it’s a perfect location,” Ferland said.
“I can’t wait. It’s going to be unbelievable. I don’t think the city’s really embraced it yet. But it’s going to be a fun year and people are going to love it,” said San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Harris Barton.
Everything is still in the planning stages so we will find out more in the coming months. The San Francisco Chronicle reviewed the committee’s bid to be the host city. The proposal offers NFL owners free golf at Pebble Beach among other perks around the Bay Area.
