Monterey rollover accident backs up Friday lunch hour commute

CHP officers say just before noon on Friday two cars got into an accident as they were merging at the Highway 1 north and Monterey exit.

Officers say the cars side swiped each other and one of them rolled and ended up on its side. The driver was taken to the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with minor injuries.

Both lanes of Highway 1 were closed for about an hour backing up traffic in the area.

No drugs or alcohol were involved in causing the accident, according to officers.
