Soledad police investigate PG&E scams, attempted burglary
Soledad detectives said Saturday three suspects claimed to work for PG&E in an attempt to break in to someone’s home.
Police say one of the suspects even went around the side of the house and broke into the garage, as the homeowners were talking to his partner at the front door.
Detective George Arreola of Soledad Police said, “On arrival officers conducted a schematic search of the area and were unable to locate these individuals.”
As officers searched the neighborhood Saturday night for attempted robbery suspects a nearby neighbor caught who police believe are the same suspects leaving their home on surveillance cameras.
“We are actively looking into this case. We are asking for the public’s assistance to come forward if they can identify these individuals,” said Arreola.
Arreola said the suspects offer a special discount for PG&E to let them into the home. But Arreola checked and PG&E said they have no such discount going on.
Christina Deanda lives right down the street from where the PG&E scammers canvassed Toledo Street.
“Its pretty unsafe. I don’t want any strangers going to my home and we do check before we open the doors because we do know that that can happen. I just hope my neighbors can too,” said Deanda.
Deanda also has surveillance cameras all around her home. She went right to her footage after NewsChannel 5 told her about the suspected burglars to see if there was anything suspicious.
“If I do catch them I would want to turn in that footage so they can know who these guys are and they can stop them,” said Deanda.
Soledad PD is asking the public if they can identify the suspects in the surveillance photos to please contact the Soledad police. Or if you’d like to remain anonymous you can go to www.wetip.com
