Hollister Police arrest man after vehicle pursuit

A 23-year-old man led a Hollister Police Officer in a car and foot chase in the city, according to the Hollister Police Department.

At about 8 p.m. Monday, Officer Luis Toribio noticed a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Sunnyslope Road and Valleyview Road. Julio Cesar Perez turned off the headlights and began driving through stop signs, according to police. Toribo said Perez refused to stop and led him on a car chase.

During the chase, Perez’s car collided with another vehicle near Nash Road and did not stop. Police said he later hit the fence of a home on the 500 block of Nash Road. Police said that is when Perez got out of the car and took off running. He was captured about 100 yards away, according to police.

Police said Perez was currently on state parole and was wearing an ankle monitor.

Perez faces several charges, including driving without a license. He was booked in San Benito County Jail.
