Playground fire in Hollister
In Hollister, the most innocent of settings was destroyed by a fire last night.
Vanessa Garcia and the Mayor of Hollister, Ignacio Velasquez, provided pictures.
According to Mayor Velasquez, the playground at Calaveras Elementary School will cost the city $100,000 — not to mention the sentimental loss for one resident.
Angelica Rodriguez said, “It’s very upsetting because all of my children, I’ve got five kids, and all five of my children went to that school. Our kids now have no playground to play on.”
Most of the playground has been removed. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
