Gang Task Force makes first firearm seizure of the year
An 18-year-old was arrested for possession of a firearm and violation of probation. This marks the first firearm seizure of the year for the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Gang Task Force.
At 5:45 p.m., the task force with the Help of Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies and Santa Cruz Police Department K-9 squad,conducted a probation compliance search of Andrew Fernandez on the 300 block of Tabor Drive in Scotts Valley.
The task force said they found a concealed shotgun with its serial number altered making it illegible. They said Fernandez is a convicted felon who is on probation.
He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
The Gang Task Force said they seized 26 firearms in 2014 and between the years of 2012 to 2014, seized 77 firearms.
