Man arrested for possession of meth and a firearm

A 56-year-old man is behind bars for possession of a semi-automatic pistol and an ounce of methamphetamine.

At 4:05 p.m. Friday, officers from the Salinas Police Department’s Violence Suppression Unit conducted a traffic stop on Felix Margarito Soto on William and Bardin Roads, according to police.

Police said Soto was out on bail from an arrest in November of last year during which the Violence Suppression Unit served a search warrant at his home and found two illegally possessed firearms, a hand grenade and large quantity of narcotics for sale.

Soto is being held at the Monterey County Jail.
