First 2015 baby in Monterey County born at Natividad
The first baby born in Monterey County for 2015 weighed in at 7 lbs, 2 oz.
Elijah was born at 12:03 a.m. at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas.
His parents say he was supposed to be born on Christmas, but he wanted a more dramatic entrance as the clock struck midnight.
“When my contractions stopped, I literally said “Happy New Year,” and then I pushed again and that’s when he came out,” Mother Perla Rodriguez said.
The family says their New Year’s resolution is to be the best parents they can be.
