Watsonville police investigate city’s 10th homicide
An 18-year-old Watsonville teen is dead after he was shot in the head Sunday, according to the Watsonville Police Department. Police said another teen was also in the vehicle but was not hurt.
It happened this afternoon at the intersection of Maple and Marchant Street in Watsonville.
Upon arrival officers said they found the victim slumped over the wheel of a vehicle that was partially on a sidewalk. He was transported to a bay area trauma center and remains in critical condition on life support.
Officers said they were able to get a general description of at least three suspects in a grey truck that fled the scene, but were unable to locate the car.
The Police department said the investigation is ongoing. A witness who was driving a white vehicle, similar to a Chevrolet Equinox, may have witnessed the incident and has not come forward, according to the Police Department.
This is the city’s 10th homicide this year.
