Wake Up Weather Forecast 12.29.14

It was the last beach clean up of the year at Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz. Yesterday morning, clean up crews found over 200 pounds of trash and 10 pounds of recycling on the beach. In total since May, 1,500 pounds of trash and 34 needles have been picked up on Cowell Beach.

Monday: There will be a few coastal low clouds early. It will be sunny and seasonable with coastal highs in the mid 50s to low 60s and low to upper 50s inland. There will be a few clouds late.

Monday Night: It will be cool to cold overnight temps. Low temperatures will be in the upper 30s to low 40s closer to the coast, low to middle 30s father inland and in the mountains. A breeze is beginning to increase.

Tuesday: It will be partly cloudy with an isolated showers. Snow showers are possible above 2,000 feet. Any precipitation that falls will be light. Winds will increase out of the north throughout the day – up to 40mph sustained in the mountains with gusts up to 65mph, it will not be as windy lower in elevation but still windy.

Extended: There will be cold, windy conditions on new year’s eve with a hard freeze expected for inland areas and patchy frost all the way to the coast. Winds do look to calm a bit for New Year’s Eve. As we head into the new year, we will embark upon a slow warming trend under mostly sunny skies.
