Marina cops spread holiday cheer

Christmas cam a couple of days early for several Marina children.

Tuesday, officers spent part of their day handing out hundreds of gifts they collected during a three week toy drive.

The police department says the community stepped up to help these families going through hard times.

“I told him that if he didn’t have enough money to buy me my present it’s okay that he could buy me it for my birthday,” said Daisy, a girl who received several toys.

Officer Chayene Garcia said, “Words can’t describe it when being able to make someone’s Christmas, especially somebodywhos less fortunate, hearing them and just seeing how appreciative, gracious they were was a great feeling.”

This is the second year that officer Chayene Garcia organized a toy drive. This time they collected about two thousand dollars worth of toys.
