Former EMS specialist faces 42 counts of sex assault

A former EMS specialist who worked for San Benito County was arraigned on 42 counts of various sex assault charges Tuesday.

Joseph Alvarado was arrested at his Hollister home last week by San Benito County Sheriff investigators for the sexual assault of two minors. Investigators say the assaults took place between 2002 and 2005.

Tuesday Alvarado pleaded not guilty in a San Benito County courtroom.

The District Attorney’s Office, the San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Alvarado remains in custody at the San Benito County jail.
