Marijuana growing operation busted in Gilroy

Gilroy police said they discovered an illegal marijuana growing operation on the 8500 block of Monterey Street this week.

Members of the Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team executed a narcotics related search warrant at the location Wednesday afternoon after a tip from a concerned community member.

Inside the 5,000-square-foot warehouse, police found some 550 marijuana plants in various stages of processing. The seized crop has an estimated value of about $1 million dollars, police said.

No suspects were found at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Gilroy Police Department Anti-Crime Team Detective Dawn Delfino at (408) 846-0350. Parties wishing to remain anonymous may call We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 (1-800-78-CRIME).
