Golden State Theatre in downtown Monterey has new owners

Th purchase of the historic Golden State Theatre was completed Tuesday.

Eric and Lori Lochtefeld started the process of buying the theater in downtown Monterey in May.

The property includes a 1,000 seat theatre, 6,000 square-feet of additional event/exhibit space and five storefronts currently occupied by three restaurants and two retail stores.

The Lochtefelds also own the historic Fox Theater in Redwood City, which they purchased in 2010.

“We could not be more pleased to be the new owners of the Golden State Theatre,” said Eric Lochtefeld in a release announcing the purchase. “We promise to work our tails off until Monterey residents feel proud to call our theater their favorite venue.”
