One shot in Salinas Monday morning
Salinas police are investigating a shooting Monday morning that sent one person to the hospital.
It happened in the area of Santa Rita and East Lamar streets just before 5 a.m., police said.
A man was sitting in a parked car when he was confronted by a passenger in a passing vehicle. The two got into a verbal altercation that soon turned into a physical fight.
As the fight was taking place, the driver of the passing vehicle exitedwith a handgun and fired. The victim, 31, was struckin the upper torso.
The suspects were last seen fleeing southbound on Santa Rita Street.
They were described as Hispanic males in their late teens to earlytwenties and were in a black vehicle, similar to a Honda. The victim was flown to a Bay Area hospital and expected to survive.
