Santa Cruz Police: Purported robbery still under investigation

Santa Cruz police say they are still looking into reports that a woman was forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM earlier this month.

According to the incident listed in police logs, officers took a report from a woman who said that on Sept. 16, she was forced at gunpoint into a car at the corner of Soquel and Riverside avenues. She told the officer she was then taken to an ATM, forced to withdraw money from her account and then released.

Santa Cruz police say no arrests have been made and they are still investigating whether or not the incident actually happened.

Money was withdrawn from the woman’s account, but police said there are parts of the story that don’t add up and more investigation is needed.
