Santa Cruz police arrest Boulder Creek man in Costco thefts

Santa Cruz Police say tips from the public led them to the suspect accused in a series of thefts from Costco.

Shawn Fialho, 45, of Boulder Creek was picked up by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office last week on an unrelated arrest.

Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark says his booking photos match the suspect caught on surveillance camera stealing electronics from Costco on multiple occasions.

Police had released stills from the surveillance camera and sought public assistance in identifying the suspect, whom Clark nicknamed “El Mustachio the Magician.”

Fialho has a long history of theft and drug-related arrests, Clark said.
