5 major wildland fires continue to burn in California
Over 8,100 firefighters continue to battle 5 major wildfires burning in California. Crews are making headway but with extreme dry conditions remaining in the state, residents are being warned to be fire safe.
Cal Fire reports that firefighters fully contained the Nelson Fire on Monday, which burned 62 acres south of Ukiah in Mendocino County.
Forecasters are saying gusty winds are expected across much of Northern California and a Red Flag Warning for high fire danger has been issued for parts of Siskiyou and Modoc County down the Sierra Nevada range from Shasta County to Tuolumne County.
The massive King Fire is just 35% contained and there are still 2,800 people evacuated from their homes.
CAL FIRE is urging Californians to be extra cautious and take steps to prevent sparking a wildfire as the anticipated winds will elevate the risk for wildfires.
