Prosecutors: Man used fake name to try to obtain painkillers at CHOMP

A 22-year-old man was placed on five years of probation for using a fake name to obtain medical treatment, specifically painkillers.

Julian Demitre Rosario was sentenced in Monterey County Superior Court for insurance fraud and unlawful use of personal identifying information.

On four different dates in July, Rosario went to the emergency room at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula complaining of abdominal pain and seeking narcotics.

In one instance, he told personnel his real name, another time he gave a variation of his name and used other people’s names the other two times. the last time Rosario was treated at the CHOMP emergency room, another doctor recognized him and realized he was using a fake name and insurance.

Police were called in and officers recognized Rosario from previous contact with him involving similar allegations.

In addition to probation, Rosario must serve 210 days in custody and pay restitution to Premier Insurance, Blue Shield, CHOMP and the two individuals whose identity the defendant used to obtain medical treatment. The estimate of the total restitution is approximately $50,000.
