Stalking suspect leads authorities on pursuit through Gilroy, Morgan Hill
Gilroy police said a Los Banos resident led them on a pursuit through unincorporated Santa Clara County Wednesday after he violated a restraining order.
Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7800 block of Princevalle Street for a reported in-progress violation of a temporary restraining order. The suspect was identified as Ronny Lee Humphrey and there is a pending stalking case involving him, officers said.
During the past 30 days, Gilroy Police Officers have investigated approximately six cases relating to restraining order violations against Humphrey. His family members are the protected parties in these investigations.
When officers arrived, Humphrey took off by car and failed to stop for officers. He then led them on a pursuit through unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County and the city of Morgan Hill.
During the pursuit, Humphrey called the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office to tell them he was armed. He then led officers back into Gilroy city limits, and was eventually stopped and taken into custody. No weapons were found in the car.
He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including stalking, evading and assault.
