Search continues for missing Big Sur hiker
Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to search for Arvin Nelson, who disappeared while hiking in the Ventana Wilderness.
The sheriff commander told NewsChannel 5 that they plan to get a helicopter equipped with infrared cameras to search for Nelson Thursday.
About six round crews will also comb the area as well. At this point, there is no command post set up and they’re operating the search remotely. Nelson disappeared earlier this month and friends called deputies when the experienced hiker failed to return home at the scheduled time.
