Elkhorn Slough Foundation gets national accreditation
The Elkhorn Slough Foundation has received national accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land
Trust Alliance.
The Elkhorn Slough Foundation is one of only 280 land trusts in the U.S. to be awarded this accreditation since fall of 2008. Accredited land trusts are authorized to display a seal indicating to the public that they meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent. The seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation.
The Elkhorn Slough Foundation is a nonprofit organization devoted to conservation of the slough and its watershed, with nearly 4,000 acres under its management.
The Elkhorn Slough is the largest tract of tidal salt marsh in California outside of San Francisco Bay, and it encompasses a wide variety of habitats.
