Seaside police to ask city council for three new police cars
At Thursday’s Seaside City Council meeting, council members will vote on a request by the police department to authorize the purchase or lease of three new patrol vehicles and four used and unmarked vehicles. The police department also seeks to outfit the vehicles with all necessary equipment.
The three new vehicles and proper equipment are expected to cost nearly $170,000; the four used vehicles will cost an estimated $8,000. The police vehicles would be financed for three years, with the funds already appropriated in the 2014-1015 fiscal year budget.
Also on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting:
Council will take up the issue of a single-use plastic bag ban
Council will consider changing current rules so that the gate to the Wheeler Street Tennis Court is locked at night
Council members will hear an update on ongoing conversations and plans to develop a senior living facility at the former Fort Ord
Council will be asked to approve a $3,000 donation to Friends of the Seaside Library for its youth programs and a $2,000 donation to the Ladies First organization for its programs for girls and young women
