Grass fire sparked by truck in King City under control

Traffic was stopped in both directions of Jolon Road in King City as of about 5 p.m. Tuesday because of a grass fire that grew to about a 1/2 acre in size until crews got it under control.

CalFire said a Fed Ex truck caught on fire on Jolon Road, near Fort Hunter Liggett. The driver said he was having mechanical issues and pulled over to the side of the road because it was overheating. After doing so, the truck set the grass on fire.

Fort Hunter Liggett fire crews were headed to the scene, according to CHP dispatchers.

The fire was on the northbound right-hand side of Jolon, about eight miles just north of Highway 101.
