Santa Cruz County jury convicts man for threatening Whitehouse Canyon resident

A Santa Cruz County jury found a man guilty of threatening a North Coast resident.

The charges against Joseph Michael Munroe stemmed from a series of incidents that occurred last year in Whitehouse Canyon, a small community located off Highway 1 near Ano Nuevo State Park.

Munroe was caught on surveillance video on two separate occasions approaching his victim’s residence, turning off the power and cutting the phone and cable lines. Later, he angrily displayed a homemade noose and threatened to hang the person.

Munroe was convicted of making threats and of violating the terms of his felony probation for selling marijuana.

He faces up to three years and eight months in custody.
