Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to host Camp Out for Cancer

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk’s first Camp Out for Cancer will be held September 5 – 6.

Camp Out for Cancer is a new overnight event, raising awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.

The overnight event includes a Walk of Hope and luminaria ceremony on the beach Friday evening, as well as cancer awareness booths and a VIP area for survivors on Saturday.

Each event registration includes a $25 donation to the American Cancer Society, overnight camping on the Boardwalk, an evening concert with The Sun Kings, free play in the arcades, an all-day rides wristband, event t-shirt, awareness bracelet, and two meals.

“We were approached last year by the local chapter of the American Cancer Society to brainstorm ideas about a possible benefit event,” said promotions director Karley Pope. “We’re very excited to have created a fun event that takes full advantage of our unique venue to raise awareness and money for the fight against cancer.”
