Bomb squad responds to reports of explosive in Marina

A suspicious device denoted by the Monterey County bomb squad Monday afternoon was not an explosive of any kind.

Marina police officers responded to the 3300 block of Del Monte Boulevard just before 4 p.m. on a report of a suspicious device, possibly an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad determined it was safe after detonating it in place.
