Salinas students build tiny house at Hartnell College

A group of Salinas High School students have been working students and staff at Hartnell College to build a tiny house.

The house is large enough for an actual person or two, but it’s designed for maximum sustainability. It’s roughly 12 by 18 feet and 16 feet tall.

Tiny houses have become somewhat trendy in the past several years as more people start thinking about efficiency and downsizing. It’s part of an architectural and social movement that advocates living more simply, and living smaller.

There’s even a new cable television reality series focused on these miniature abodes called “Tiny House Nation.”
