Salinas woman convicted of sex with teen to be evaluated by state prison system
A Salinas woman who had a sexual relationship with a teenage boy is being sent to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for evaluation.
Annette Banda, 50, pleaded no contest in April to four counts of committing lewd acts and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
Banda, also known as Annette Vink, was arrested in January on more than three dozen charges stemming from her sexual involvement with the teen. Prosecutors said that starting in 2010, Banda initiated and continued a sexual relationship with a then-14-year-old boy for three years. She’d met the Palma High School student through her daughter.
Banda faces a maximum sentence of five years and eight months. She originally was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday but instead, the Monterey County Superior Court directed that she first be evaluated by the CDCR for 90 days.
