Junior Otters ‘graduate’ from migrant education program at CSU Monterey Bay

The Monterey County Office of Education celebrated its Junior Otters summer program Wednesday afternoon.

The Junior Otter program is a four-week summer program run through the county office of education’s migrant education program. It’s held each summer in in partnership with CSU Monterey Bay, El Teatro Campesino and the California Mini-Corps Program.

The program, offered to migrant students entering grades 4th through 8th grades, focuses on language arts, mathematics and science interventions. It also introduces students to university campus life and fine arts.

Playwright, writer and film director Luis Valdez and his family spoke at the closing event Wednesday afternoon.
