Gilroy Garlic Festival preparations underway

Preparations for the 36th Gilroy Garlic Festival are underway.

The annual festival celebrating the so-called stinkin’ rose begins Friday, July 25 and continues through Sunday, July 27.

Organizers said more than 500 people are working this week to get the festival set up – divided into 25 committees to help keep everything on track.

A total of 4,000 people will volunteer with the festival in some way or another.

This year, the festival has even launched a mobile app with a map, directions, ticket sales, etc. Wireless internet will be available in the park for vendors this year too.

Proceeds from the event go to charity.
