Big rig accident in Gilroy kills one, injures eight

One person is dead and eight others were sent to the hospital, three with critical injuries, after a big rig crashed into several cars in Gilroy, Monday night.

CHP officers and Santa Clara County Sheriff deputies responded to the big rig accident involving seven other cars. The big rig caught on fire.

The crash happened on the corner of Ferguson street and State route 152 just before 5:30pm. Bloomfield Road was shut down between Frazier Lake Road and Hwy 152.

The crash is under investigation.
