1 taken to hospital after shooting at Salinas townhome

Salinas police are investigating a shooting that occurred inside a Willow Wood Townhomes residence late Monday morning.

Officers remained outside one of the residences for about an hour and a half, trying to coax a suspect out with their hands up. Eventually officers entered the residence and did not find anyone inside.

Cherokee Drive was blocked off at Main Street and residents were told to go back inside their homes during the police activity.

One person was taken to a Bay Area hospital with what police classified as non-life-threatening injuries. No further information was immediately available.
