One arrested in Chualar shooting that left one dead, one injured
Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies say they’ve made an arrest in connection with a shooting in Chualar Wednesday that left one dead and one injured.
Marques Adrian Gaines, 33, was taken into custody in the Antioch area and brought back to Monterey County Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
At 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the area of Adam Street in response to reports of a shooting. They were directed to an agricultural field area east of Adam Street where they discovered the body of 19-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez.
Rafael Vasquez, 20, was flown to a Santa Clara County hospital, where he was treated and released.
