Sheriff: 20-year-old arrested in Live Oak for vandalism

Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 20-year-old man after they say he was caught tagging an elementary school early Thursday morning.

While on routine patrol, two deputies noticed two people entering the Live Oak Elementary School grounds around 2:30 a.m.

The deputies contacted the two –Alexander Tinaza, 20, and Mariah Matter, 18 — and found Tinaza in possession of multiple items used for graffiti.

They also found evidence that they say connects him to several previously reported ‘tagging’ vandalisms in the Santa Cruz area. He’s believed to be connected to the “tagging” moniker “NERD” and the initials “WVK.”

Tinaza was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of vandalism.
