Santa Cruz DA: Convicted rapist and murdered denied parole for 15th time
A man convicted of killing and raping a 79-year-old woman more than 40 years ago in Capitola was denied parole for a 15th time this week, Santa Cruz County prosecutors said.
A parole board at Folsom State Prison Tuesday denied parole for Wilfried Willie Brown, who is serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of Ida Stine.
On February 5, 1973, Brown, a California Youth Authority parolee for rape, entered Stine’s Capitola home by pretending to be a salesman.
After they ate coffee and cookies together and then prayed, he attacked her.
He was apprehended a week later.
Brown, now 57, will be eligible for parole again in 2019.
