Three arrested in Hollister home invasion
Three people have been arrested after a home invasion-robbery in San Benito County just after midnight Monday.
San Benito County Sheriff’s Deputies and Hollister Police officers were dispatched to the county line, at a house in the area of Bridge Rd and Jacaranda Circle for reports of a robbery.
The victim was home alone when two suspects entered with a handgun and brandished it. The second suspect bound the victim and then began searching the house while keeping a gun pointed at the victim.
The suspects fled with personal property of the victim. The victim was able to break free and began pursuing the suspect vehicle, communicating with emergency dispatchers using an On-Star system.
A San Benito County Sheriff’s Deputy located the suspect vehicle in the area of Highways 156 and 25, and a vehicle chase ensued.
The car stopped just south of Bolsa Road and the three occupants — David Hinnen, Monique Valle and Stephanie Smith — were taken into custody. Officers also recovered a loaded, stolen handgun from the car.
Deputies say the victim was targeted and the attack was not random. All three suspects are 22 years old and are from outside the area. Smith is from Milpitas; Hinnen from Sacramento and Valle from San Jose.
