Millenium Charter High School selected as state demonstration site

Millennium Charter High School, housed at the Monterey County Office of Education’s headquarters, has been selected by the state education department as one of eight Arts, Media, and Entertainment regional model demonstration sites.

This designation means the school is eligible for up to $15,000 in state funding to support the following:

Participation at Demonstration Day training at Coronado School of the Arts (Fall 2014)
Present at AME Leadership Institute in San Diego (Spring 2015) Present at regional Demonstration Day at MCOE (Spring 2015) Present AME best practices at two regional or statewide conferences Attend Demonstration Day training at another model AME demonstration site Provide technical assistance for AME programs in their area

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson visited the school in January. In the state’s award letter, he wrote that it was evidence the school has “model programs in the Design, Visual, and Media Arts Pathway as well as the Production and Managerial Arts Pathway.”

The Millennium Charter High School, which opened last year, is the first of its kind in the tri-county area. It serves as a demonstration site offering a full-day innovative curriculum that emphasizes project-based digital media technology and the arts, with a strong emphasis on 21st century skills, including college and vocational preparation.
