Crews making progress on grass fire south of San Jose

More than 100 firefighters, including crews from Santa Cruz County, were responding to a vegetation fire in the Santa Teresa Hill in South San Jose that had burned at least 125 acres as of late Monday night.

The blaze was reported around 1:40 p.m. Some residences in the area were evacuated, but no injuries or damage to report.

As of about 4:50 p.m, the fire was approximately 20 to 30 percent contained.

By 10 p.m., crews had the fire at 75 percent containment.

Two firefighters were taken to a hospital with mild heat injuries.

Another fire was also burning at the Los Lagos Golf Course in South San Jose. That fire was reported around 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway.

Crews from San Benito and Monterey counties are also assisting Santa Clara County authorities with a fire at Highway 152 and the entrance to Henry Coe State Park, near Casa de Fruta.
