Morgan Hill man released under AB 109 arrested

A Morgan Hill man released under the state’s prison realignment plan was arrested again on not only two outstanding warrants, but for allegedly being involved in an attempted burglary.

Morgan Hill police said officers were called out to Pan Pacific RV Center, 16695 Condit Road, regarding an alarm just after midnight Thursday.

While officers were searching the property, they saw the suspect Joseph Luna run from some bushes between Pan Pacific and the Quality Inn Hotel.

The chase ended when Luna was stopped in the area between the Quality Inn Hotel and the Executive Inn Hotel, but autorities said Luna resisted arrest until he was placed in handcuffs.

Officers learned Luna had a no bail warrant for violation of his Post Release Community Supervision, AB 109. Luna also had an additional warrant out of the Morgan Hill Police Department for violating a restraining order.

Luna was booked into the Santa Clara County jail for attempted burglary, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, prowling, under the influence of a controlled substance, and the two outstanding warrants.

This was the second incident within a week that the Pan Pacific was targeted for theft/burglary. On June 17, two unknown suspects broke into multiple RV’s and stole televisions, furniture and other items. Surveillance cameras recorded a white extended cab pickup truck, possibly a Ford Ranger, leaving the premises.

At this time, detectives are still investigating last week’s incident to determine if Luna was involved.
