Live electrical wires down in Watsonville; roads closed Tuesday night

Police were asking that motorists avoid Brewington Avenue between E. Lake and E. Fifth due to downed live electrical wires until at least 9:30 p.m.

California Highway Patrol reported a car hit a power pole sometime after 5 p.m., breaking it at the base. The lines were holding the pole upright. A small fire broke out, but was contained. PG&E crews arrived on scene and were standing by for work.
