Salinas investigators probing Natividad Creek Park fires

Investigators are looking into whether the person who set three vegetation fires at Natividad Creek Park Saturday was the same person who set fires there in October.

Fire crews responded to three arson-related fires around 2 p.m. The Wildland Response Team was able to quickly put the blazes out before they grew out of control.

Over the weekend, firefighters said witnesses told them they saw a man light the fires. He was described as a man in his 20s to 30s, wearing a black T-shirt and riding a bike.

Monday, investigators said the suspect description matches that of the man they believe started seven fires in an hour at Natividad Creek Park on Oct. 27.
