Convicted felon arrested with drugs, weapons in Moss Landing

Members of the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team’s Narcotics Force arrested two men at a Moss Landing residence this week.

Officers served a search warrant at a home on Struve Road, targeting Francisco Ruiz, 34, a convicted felon and known Watsonville area gang member.

Agents found a semi-automatic handgun with a loaded magazine, 14 grams of methamphetamine, evidence of methamphetamine trafficking, and evidence of gang involvement in Ruiz’s room.

He was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine for sale, and a gang enhancement.

From Armando Ruiz’s room, agents found a small amount of methamphetamine and 27.9 grams of marijuana, as well as evidence of drug sales. The 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana for sales.

Both men were booked into the Monterey County Jail.
