A taste of summer

A happy Mother’s Day to all!

This Sunday has started off mild under sunny skies. It would be wise to take today as only a taste of what we will see next week. Here is a quick layout of the week ahead.

Monday will start off even warmer than Sunday with high pressure building in off the coast. The upper level ridge and the offshore flow will work together and continue to dry things out for the coming days. Most inland areas will see temperatures in the 80s with coastal areas in the mid to upper 70s.

Tuesday/Wednesday will be our warmest days of the week. Temperatures by Wednesday in the triple digits along some inland areas are not ruled out. Santa Cruz, Northern Salinas Valley, Hollister Valley, Carmel Valley, Monterey Bay, and the Big Sur Coast are all under an excessive heat watch for Tuesday and Wednesday as the offshore flow assists these temperatures in rising even along the coastal cities.

Thursday/Friday These two days will be cooler, but not cool. Temperatures will retreat back to what we saw Monday with inland areas back into the 80s and coastal areas into the 70s.

Until next time,

Meteorologist Sydney Daniel
