Counties put fracking on the ballot

3 the controversial issue of offshore fracking may soon be decided by santa barbara county voters. the grassroots group “santa barbara county water guardians” dropped off 9 boxes of petition signatures at the registrar’s office today! 3 the group says they collected more than 20 thousand signatures in just 3 weeks.. for a fracking ban! environmentalists claim chemicals involved in fracking are associated with serious health problems, as well as air and water pollution. drilling advocates say there are enough environmental protections in place. 3 meantime, according to the group san benito rising, *their petition to put an anti-fracking measure on the november ballot has been approved! the group says land owners are not protected from oil drilling operations.
