Half-price dog adoptions offered all month at Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter
If you’ve been wanting to adopt your own four-legged best friend, now might be a great time to do so.
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is offering half-price adoptions of dogs and puppies for the entire month of May.
Shelter officials say they’re experiencing an overload of dogs at the shelter, and adopting out more animals will help open up space for other animals that need the shelter’s help.
The shelter is also offering low-cost rabies vaccinations in light of a bat recently testing positive for the disease in Santa Cruz County. The $5 vaccines are available at the Live Oak shelter (2200 7th Ave.) from Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Regular adoption fees are $195 for puppies under six months, $130 for dogs up to six years old and $60 for senior dogs – those older than six. Those fees include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, collar and ID tag, and a license.
